As big as this fight is I almost think this fight is jinxed, but we are going to get yet another shot at it. After a “draw” in the first match, which I don’t think was a draw but IF it was I don’t think it was scored properly (118-110 on one score card). But this leads to my theory about the three-fight payday. But I won’t get into all of that because it would take all day. After we get that and tainted meat with Clenbuterol out of the way here we are.
Canelo – Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez
Let’s get ready to… I don’t need problems with Michael Buffer you all know the rest. A big takeaway that I think will play a major role in the rematch is pace. Canelo was able to come out in the beginning of the fight and set the pace. He was able to execute and control the first two rounds and won each of those rounds. But Canelo had momentum taken away by GGG and he would soon take control for the remainder of the fight. He was able to keep the pressure on Canelo utilizing his strong jab.
GGG – Gennady Gennadyevich Golovkin
GGG’s constant pressure also helped to shrink the ring, constantly keeping Canelo against the ropes and not giving him a chance to use his great foot work. The flurries by Canelo in the final round seemed to be a last-ditch effort to score a knock out which was the only way he would be able to win this match. This rematch will come down to pace and the middle rounds. With Alvarez’s inability to hurt GGG if he can keep the pressure up and cut off the ring, he will wear down Alvarez and this fight will not go the distance. GGG takes this is in 9 rounds.
