Founded by Les Kourie, Afribet South Africa is a fairly new player on the local sports betting market. Having started as an on-track bookmaker around South Africa, Kourie also brings many years of experience in the financial services and property sectors to his new venture. With Afribet, he endeavours to make the exciting world of betting more accessible to the masses with not only several Gauteng-based retail shops but also a strong online presence.

Desktop Website
Afribet South Africa uses Aardvark Technologies as their software provider, a first for SA as far as we’re aware. If you’re familiar with the Instant Games at Supabets, those were also developed by Aardvark. The Afribet interface is easy to understand and navigation is fairly straightforward. On the main horizontal menu, alongside the branding banner are links to the About Us, Current Promotions, Betting Rules, Terms & Conditions, Privacy Policy and Contact Us pages.
We like that the Betting Rules and Terms and Conditions are prominently displayed for easy accessibility as these are often hidden. For a better user experience, the Join and Log In buttons on the homepage should be brighter, making them easier to find.
The secondary horizontal menu on the site includes Sport (Pre-match betting only), Lucky Numbers, Spin & Win, BetGames, Big20 and Live Roulette. Just above the main sports menu, there is an option to filter your search results by time to see what events are going live in the next 3 hours, 1 day, 3 days or a week.
This is a really useful feature we haven’t seen much before in the local market! Near where you log in, there is also a WhatsApp button which allows you to message customer support directly from the Afribet homepage.
Mobile Website
Afribet South Africa has not tried to reinvent the wheel in terms of their mobile site. When you visit their site on your smartphone or tablet you’ll have a very similar betting experience as on your desktop. The main difference is the content from the two horizontal menus on the desktop site is stacked in a drop-down menu in the top left (alongside the Afribet logo).
On the mobile site, the full sports menu is in the form of a carousel across the top rather than being horizontally displayed on the left side. Overall, the Afribet mobile site replicates the desktop one with a few small tweaks that enhance navigation for mobile punters.
Sports Betting Markets
Customers of Afribet South Africa have their betting options wide open with markets available on soccer, boxing, rugby, cricket, MMA, tennis and formula one. There are also markets available on American favourites like NFL, basketball and baseball as well as lesser-played sports like futsal, Aussie rules, bowls and darts. Afribet South Africa recently added Outrights to the betting mix which includes soccer leagues from all over Europe, South America and Asia.
Sports Betting Features
Bet Codes: Look up the bet you want to place online and then provide the relevant bet code to the teller in the shop so you can get your money down faster. Find the blue Bet Codes button just below the promotions carousel on the Afribet South Africa homepage.
Check Slip: Go to the Check Slip tab and provide your Bet Slip ID or Payout Code for all the details on any bet you have already placed.
Quick Bet: Place bets faster by choosing from pre-selected stake sizes available in your bet slip. This way, you can get your money down in just a few clicks without having to type any numbers!
Betgames
If you like to bet on Lucky Numbers, Afribet South Africa offers BetGames which include Lucky 5 Lucky 6 and Lucky 7. These fun and entertaining games combine a live-streamed lottery draw with fixed odds betting.
To play, players must bet on any number of different outcomes related to balls randomly drawn from a machine. The number, colours and order in which the balls appear in the cylinder determine the result of your bets. Every few minutes a new draw starts with more than 100 betting options to choose from.
Live Casino Games
Spin & Win is a live roulette game featuring a simulated wheel which spins every 4 minutes. Between every spin, players can place bets on which number will come up, whether the number will be black or red, whether the number will be odd or even and much more. For players who like to use a roulette betting strategy, the game has built-in options for placing bets on well-known combinations such as Tiers, Orphelins, Voisins and Zero.
Live Roulette has the same interface and betting options as Spin & Win. The main difference is that instead of a simulated roulette wheel, the game is live-streamed from a casino in South Africa. If you have any doubts over the legitimacy of the Afribet live games, here’s the proof they’re not rigged!
Similar to Keno in many ways, Big 20 is a game where 20 numbers are drawn between 1 and 80. The numbers 1-40 are Tails and 41-80 are Heads. To play, choose how many numbers you want to include in the draw and place a bet on which side will win between Heads and Tails. To help you decide whether to bet on Heads, Tails or a Tie you can see which numbers are hot and cold. If you’re still stuck, choose to have your numbers auto-picked for you.
The betting odds for Big 20 are as follows:
- Heads – 1/1 (2.0)
- Tails – 1/1 (2.0)
- Tie – 3/1 (4.0)
Afribet Lucky Numbers

Social Media
Afribet is very active on social media. We suggest you follow any or all of their accounts to keep updated with special offers and join in the conversation with their community of punters.
Responsible Gaming
Afribet South Africa takes problem gambling very seriously and takes an active role in ensuring its customers play responsibly. Any player may request to exclude themselves from gambling activities for a period of six months.
During this period of exclusion, players are offered counselling and support through the National Responsible Gambling Programme (NRGP). Requests from players for removal of the self-exclusion order will only be considered once the self-exclusion period is complete and they can prove they have attended counselling.
Our Verdict on Afribet
Afribet South Africa offers a great selection of pre-match sports with good market depth across many international soccer leagues. The availability of live games such as roulette and lottery games such as lucky numbers ensures they cater to a wider audience. The R6000 deposit match offer is a generous way to welcome new customers and is an enticing offer every punter should take advantage of.
The site does have some product limitations such as a lack of in-play sports markets and a limited range of Betgames. Their betting features are not well-diversified and customer support could be bolstered with the addition of a telephone and/or live chat service.
