Grandplay is a fairly new player in the South African sports betting market but have already built a decent reputation as a bookmaker. We’ve been using them for quite some time so we feel that the following Grandplay review will be as comprehensive as one can get. They currently offer a generous R2500 100% match sign on offer which is one of the biggest in South Africa.

The Grandplay site is built on the Bettech software we’ve seen at many other bookies. It’s a shame they went with bettech but we do understand the reasoning behind it. The site has a good layout and the branding is on point. There is nothing flashy about the site, it just works, and pretty well at that. It does suffer from the same issues all Bettech sites do, things like having to click several times before finding a market in a league and having comprehensive but shallow live / inplay betting markets.

An issue more specific to Grandplay is their top menu odds layout, they currently have outrights to all the European football leagues (Well the major ones) and we think it’d be better if they replaced these with quick links to the weekends markets of these actual leagues. It’d save punters a great deal of time and bring in more money.

site
We quite like the general site layout.

Another gripe was that their inplay offering was not as great as other Bettech bookies but all their pre match and ante post markets were adequate. We had no issues with withdrawals and deposits but that’s what we expect from all bookmakers these days.

The Grandplay customer service was pretty good and our queries were answered quickly on both live chat and telephonically. You’ll likely chat to Francois, a friendly chap who will sort you out quickly. The downside is that they are only available from 9am – 9pm so any late night queries will have to wait until the next day. Let’s have a look at some of Grandplay’s promotions.

Promotions :

Acca Refund : Refunds on 7 leg sports multiples that lose by 1 leg.

Bore Draw Refund : Money back on correct score bets if the game ends 0-0

Late Goal Refund : Money back if your correct score bet loses after the 85th minute

Golf Place Refund : Money back if your golfer finishes 6th-10th

Tennis 5th Set : Money back if your bet loses in the 5th set

And many, many, many more!

Grandplay really do offer some of the most comprehensive promotions in South Africa. You’d be hard pressed to find a site that has as many as them. It must be a nightmare for their settlement team.

Overall Experience :

Grandplay are a solid choice for punters due to their fantastic sign on offer and their promotions. The site is easy to use and they also have a mobile app available for download for punters on the go. We’d like to see more inplay markets and perhaps a few changes to the way their quick links and odds are displayed. Also the addition of Esports betting would be lovely. Grandplay excel in their customer service and offer enough markets to keep most punters happy. We’d definitely recommend you give them a shot.

  1. Just got an email they’ll be merging with Sunbet. Pity grand Play had great variety on promotions and markets. Plus their website easier to navigate.

Yeah it’s a real pity to lose them as they had some great promos and the site itself was pretty good.

  2. Love Grandplay. My fav bookie. Quick payouts and friendly staff.

  3. My issue / point is only that BSB ranks the first deposit bonuses based purely on size of the bonus and not on the turnover requirements.

If you’re here to inform then you have to admit there really is a massive difference in the attractiveness of a bonus based on the requirements. Not purely on the size of the deposit.

There definitely is a big difference and we’re happy to admit that. Some bonuses are more attractive than others and we rate them on size first and then on other factors.

We’ll look into posting an article about low turn over bonuses.

  4. If you don’t want to turnover

Simple solution : don’t take the free bonus

    Bunch of complainers

Just be happy they lay your bets

World sports betting will limit you

Agreed I only use new bookie for the bonuses.

I don’t care about wagering even if it’s big because it’s more money for me.

If you don’t want to wager don’t take the bonus. They don’t force it on you.

Admin can you make a article on wagering for people who it can help?

      Thanks Kenneth.

  5. You guys should really not get so hung up on the amount and rather have a look at the terms of the bonus.

Deposit R500 and have to turn over R5000 before you can make a withdrawal? You having a laugh.

      Hi Jokers,

Most bonuses have high turnovers and it’s pretty standard across the board. The ones that don’t have high turnovers (like Playabets) have it mentioned that the turnover is low.
