After what seems like an absolute age the Euro 2020 tournament is finally here, with the tournament kicking off on 12 June 2021 and played at various cities around the continent. This year 24 teams will be competing for glory, starting off in 6 groups before moving into the knock out phase and ultimately the Euro 2020 final, which takes place on 11 July at Wembley.
The Euros always provide a host of betting opportunities, from match betting to group winners and even who will win the golden boot, and in this guide we are going to be sharing some of our best betting tips for the tournament. All odds listed are correct at time of publication, but are subject to change.
Euro 2020 Group Winner Bets
Italy to win Group A
Italy have looked in fantastic form leading up to the tournament and should have no trouble brushing aside the likes of Switzerland, Turkey and Wales to top Group A. They are heavily favoured by bookmakers to top the group, but the current price of 1.60 at Bet.co.za is too good to turn down.
Belgium to win Group B
Belgium are one of the most talented sides taking part in Euro 2020 and find themselves alongside Denmark, Russia and Finland in a fairly easy group. The Russians might pose them some problems but we can’t look past the 1.71 at Palacebet on Belgium to top the group.
Group F is a minefield, but there’s some value in France
Group F is going to be the most interesting one to follow, and should also be one of the most competitive groups, with Germany, France, Portugal and Hungary battling it out for top spot. We don’t give Hungary much chance and expect either France or Germany to top the group. Surprisingly bookies have Germany as favourites at 2.30, but we’ll be backing the World Champions, France, who look good value at 2.40.
Euro 2020 Golden Boot Winner
The Golden Boot at major soccer tournaments is usually won by players who score in the region of 6 goals, which has run true for the last few tournaments. It’s incredibly hard to confidently pick an individual to score that many goals, especially when coaches are inclined to rest star players for less competitive matches (ones you’d expect them to score in!) With that in mind we’ve gone with three players to win the golden boot;
Euro 2020 Outright Winner Prediction
The World Champions, France, are the current favourites at 4.50, followed by England 5.00, Belgium 6.00 and Germany at 7.50. You’d have a solid chance backing France or Belgium but the odds on offer aren’t attractive enough for us to get involved so we’re forced to look else where for our bets.
We’ll be backing Italy to win Euro 2020 at 10.00. Why? Because should Italy win their group they’ll face a fairly straightforward road to the final, and given their recent form, as well as form over the last few years it’s worth have a straight bet or an each way bet at 5.00. The Italians have only conceded 3 goals in their last 15 matches under Mancini, so we expect them to grind out defensive wins on the way to the final. If you don’t fancy a value punt on the Italians then our next best bet would be on France.
