Established in 2005 by C.E.O Gary Lentin, who also runs the South African Sportsbook, GG Gaming. SUP have successfully run three World Series of Poker (WSOP) events from 2010 to 2012. In 2012 ShuffleUp Poker transitioned from WSOP to their current flagship event, the World Poker Tour (WPT) at Emperors Palace where they run bi-annual WPT tournaments as the only WPT Licence holder in Africa.

In addition to the WPT, ShuffleUp Poker run tournaments at other Peermont properties including Graceland Casino within South Africa. Moving outside our boarders, Shuffle Up Poker have partnered with Legacy Hotels and Casinos for their annual Swakopmund and Windhoek Series of Poker.

Shuffle Up Poker Events

After a successful two-year partnership with the WSOPA, ShuffleUp Poker transitioned from WSOPA to their current flagship event, the World Poker Tour (WPT). Now partnering up with the Peermont Group, WPT has taken the South African market by storm over the past 8 years.

The WPT runs bi-annually at Peermont’s leading casino property, Emperors Palace, which has proven to grow in player turnout year on year. A singular WPT series hosts between 9-12 individual tournaments, each with their own unique appeal. Buy-ins vary from Free Rolls to R200,000 where players can expect to take home their share of the now R20 Million Prize Pool per series. The poker action doesn’t stop there, leading up to the series, daily satellite games allow players to win their seat into the official series with buy-ins ranging from free to R1,000.

Over the years, ShuffleUp Poker and Peermont have held a wide range of events, the most prestigious of these events was the iconic WPT Alpha8 Johannesburg series. World renowned poker professionals such as Phil Ivey, Erik Seidel and Antonio Esfandiari came together in pursuit of the $500,000 first prize.

Pushing boundary’s is no new feat, in September, there will once again be a change up in the industry as ShuffleUp Poker introduce Africa’s first Emperors Palace Inter-Provincial poker tournament. Nine teams from all-across Africa come together, to compete in two unique Freeze-Out events, for their share of the R3.2 Million prize pool. World Sports Betting are in proud association with all ShuffleUp Poker events, with this one being no different, they too have a team playing in this one of a kind event.

Future events this year include the Graceland Poker Series Freeze-out weekend 1-3 August as well as the WPT Emperors Palace Johannesburg 15-23 November 2019.
