Brazil will feel that they left 3 points out on the field against Switzerland last Sunday. The South American side played well enough but completely underestimated the defensive organisation of the Swiss, that and Neymar was a no show. We’re not going to read too much into the result as the Swiss are the 6th ranked side in the World and put in a display worthy of that ranking. Brazil need to find a plan to break down deep sitting physical teams if they want to win the World Cup, a problem they are unlikely to face against Costa Rica.
Costa Rica got their campaign off to a bad start after a nervy 1-0 loss to Serbia, another very underrated side. They will have to stifle the Brazilian flair if they are to get a result but looking at their roster of players it will be a tall ask. Costa Rica have been struggling in front of goal and they’ve only scored 1 goal in their last 3 matches, yes two of them were friendlies but if you aren’t scoring in friendlies it’s not a good sign.

With Costa Rica having a decent defence but very little to offer upfront this will be a long game for them. They’ll be sitting deep and trying to hit Brazil on the counter, something that will only work until Brazil find a goal. They’ll be looking to score first but Brazil’s defence is pretty solid and they’ll find it tough going. Brazil will want to make up for their draw with Switzerland and can be expected to come out looking for blood. There isn’t a great deal of value betting this match as Brazil are heavy favourites with the bookies, so we’re going to be going with a slightly short bet, Brazil to win and keep a clean sheet at 3/5.
