Federer v Cilic – Aus Open Men’s Final (Loss)

The 2018 Aus Open has been a tough one to punt but Federer backers will be smiling all the way to the bank. The World Number 2 is yet to drop a set in Melbourne and the 11/10 on offer for a Federer 3-0 win in the final certainly looks attractive.

27 January 2018

Halep v Wozniacki – Aus Open Women’s Final (Won)

On the ladies side we should be in for a much closer contest where the two best players in the WTA meet. Halep is the worthy favourite at 13/20 and has beaten Wozniacki in their last 3 meetings. Both players have dropped a set in 2 of their six matches and with the quality on court we should be in for a 2-1 win. We’ll be backing a 3 set match at 5/4 which looks like great value. For those feeling bold BetOlimp have a great boost on a 2-1 Wozniacki win at 5/1.

26 January 2018

Federer v Chung (Push)

Federer takes on the high flying Chung who is a whopping 15 years his junior. Chung caused a major upset by taking down Djokovic but we think the youngsters tournament ends against the Fed Express. Federer is yet to drop a set in the Australian Open and another straight sets win looks on the cards. Back Federer to win 3-0.

24 January 2018

Federer v Berdych (Won)

Federer will be overjoyed at the fact his main rivals are out and the Australian Open title is his to lose. He has been in decent form so far and now takes on Berdych, a player who he has beaten in straight sets in 6 of their last 7 encounters. The big hitting Berdych won’t be go down without a fight but Federer should have too much for him and we don’t expect him to drop a set. Federer to win 3-0 at 9/10.

21 January 2018

Kontaveit v Suarez Navarro (Won)

Kontaveit has flown up the rankings thanks to an impressive 2017 record. She is playing out of her socks and will relish the opportunity to reach the next stage when she takes on Navarro. Navarro finds herself on somewhat of a downward trend, having had a very disappointing 2017 and she has not been too impressive in Australia. If both players were in similar form we’d go with Navarro but they aren’t, so we’re backing Kontaveit to progress but at 7/10 it’s not the best value. Over 2.5 sets is a good shout at 15/10

Kyrgios v Dimitrov (Won)

Home favourite Kyrgios is supringly favoured to win this match at 6/10. While we like the form he is in World Number 3, Dimitrov, is no push over and won’t be easy pickings for the Aussie. It’s hard to find an angle here, there is value backing Dimitrov outright and their should be 4 sets player, but that too doesn’t have much value at 5/10. Instead we’re going to be backing over 40.5 games at 9/10.

20 January 2018

Berdych v Del Potro (Push)

An out of sorts Bedych will be hoping to find some sort of form when he takes on World Number 20, Del Potro. The Argentine has been in much better form and is looking good in Australia. The H2H is back and forth which works in the form man’s favour as his form should be the deciding factor. We’re backing Delpotro to win at 15/20 and a slight hedge on 3-0 correct score.

Halep v Davis (Loss)

This match is one that won’t be great to watch but should be good to make money off! Halep is hands down the best player in women’s tennis at the moment and her the trophy will likely be hers. She faces Davis, who is ranked World Number 79. Davis last played Halep back in 2013, losing the match 2-0. We expect the same scoreline but at 1/4 it’s not much value. Instead back under 18.5 games, Halep should wrap this up 6-3, 6-3 at worst.

Keys v Bogdan (Won)

Keys should win this match up at a canter, the World Number 20 is a top player and one can almost bank on a 2-0 score. However at 1/3 that’s not the best value and considering it’s a few games into the tournament we feel that the 5.5 games handicap is a bit too high. Keys will win comfortably but Nogdan should cover +5.5 games at 9/10.

Australian Open 2018 Betting Tips :

18 January 2018

Kyrgios v Tsonga (Lost)

One of the best early round matches sees the home favourite Kyrgios take on the big hitting Frenchman, Tsonga. Both players can be patchy but with the home crowd behind him and a cocky attitude to boot it should be a comfortable win for Kyrgios. He’s also navigated more tougher opponents than Tsonga so far and his form is good heading into this match. We’re not going to take the Aussie however, as there is little value on the win or the handicap, so we’re going with u38.5 match points.

Dimitrov v Rublev

This match is going to be closer than the odds suggest. Dimitrov is heavily favoured but seeing as both players are in top form it’s hard to back the Bulgarian. Rublev has won 8 of his last 10 matches and beat Dimitrov 3-0 in their last meeting in 2017. We think Rublev will give Dimitrov a run for his money and we’ll back him on the +4.5 games handicap.

17 January 2018

Treble Tip :

Sam Querry( 2/7), Djokovic (1/5) and Wawrinka (2/7) (Lost)

All players who are top class and in decent form, they should not have any trouble dealing with their opposition. Considering the day looks tough to find value we’re going with the treble at 1/1.

16 January 2018

Lacko v Raonic (Lost)

Raonic has a great record on the  hard courts of the Australian Open. The 27 year old Canadian reached the quarter-finals in 2017, losing to eventual finalist Rafael Nadal. He should have no trouble easing past Lacko. Back Raonic to pick up the win and cover the handicap.

Bedene v Federer

Bedene had a good 2017 ,winning 42 matches and three Challenger titles. He won the Irving Tennis Classic, 2017 Verrazzano Open and the 2017 Open Citta’ Della Disfida. He’s nowhere near the class of Federer but he should give it a proper go and we’re backing him to keep it tight resulting in the match going over 28 points.

Bautista-Agut v Verdasco (Won)

World 22 Bautista Agut has won seven ATP singles titles and achieved a career-high singles ranking of #13. He takes on Verdasco who needs little introduction. Verdasco leads the head to head 3-1,having also won their last clash in Dubai in 2017. Verdasco should have no trouble covering the -4.5 handicap.
