England have come a long way in the last few months and are once again a team that is capable of challenging for the World Cup. They had a fairly easy run in the group stages, beating a stubborn Tunisia and smashing a hopeless Panama, they did however stumble against Belgium. In their defense it was essentially 2 second string teams that could not care less about the outcome of the match. What is worrying is that the England first team have not really been tested by a side of quality. Colombia are most certainly a side of quality and England will have to be very disciplined at the back if they are to get anything from this game as the Colombians will come at them full tilt.
Colombia have had a colourful World Cup for lack of a better word. They were very unlucky to lose to Japan as they were red carded in the 3rd minute of the match but they did record comfortable wins over Senegal and a hapless Poland. Like England they haven’t really been tested by a quality side but they have been tested mentally thanks to their early card against Japan. There’s also the small matter of if James Rodriguez is going to healthy after coming off against Senegal but Colombia will fancy their chances against England with or without their key player.

England will be looking to control this fixture and should have the Lions share of possession, forcing the Colombians into challenges and wearing them down physically. It’s hard to pick a winner here as both sides as mentioned are very evenly matched but England might have a slight edge with the red hot Captain Harry Kane.
