Sweden v England World Cup Betting Preview
Sweden surprisingly final themselves with chance of making the Semi Finals having navigated a tough group, and a draining encounter against Switzerland in the Round of 16. The Swedes have very much flown under the radar this World Cup and few expected them to get this far. They haven’t set the tournament alight with goals or flashy displays but they have shown they are a very organised side that keeps their shape and are willing to put in the hard yards to win possession off their opponents. They’ll be very reliant on their back four when facing England as they’ll definitely be tested by the likes of Kane and Trippier. Sweden will also need to find some form upfront as their finishing can only be described as dire in their 1-0 victory over Switzerland.
England will fancy their chances against Sweden after the confidence boost of finally winning a match on penalties. The match against Colombia was nothing to write home about as neither side really created many chances but England showed good discipline by not getting sucked into the physical game that Colombia were playing. They continue to have trouble with Sterling who has been ineffective this World Cup, replace him with a form player and they will pose much more of a threat going forward. While this English side is nothing to write home about they have a very easy side of the draw and their route to the final could honestly not be easier. They’re better than Sweden, Russia and arguably Croatia, they just need to up their intensity and they’ll be in the final.
Sweden v England World Cup Betting Tips
This match looks like it will be a physical midfield showdown as both teams play a very similar style of football. It’s going to be tough for England to break down a Swedish defence that has only conceded 1 goal this tournament but Harry Kane looks in great form and will be up for the challenge. Neither side are the most prolific scorers either, but England have bagged a few more than the Swedes so far. It’s tough to look past England winning this game at 17/20 but the odds are just not attractive enough to warrant a big bet. If they had been over evens we’d recommend it but the hype around England’s progress seems to have affected the prices!
There is some value in exotics though, one that caught our eye was England to keep a clean sheet at 1/1 which is a top price and we’ll be having a bet on that given how poor Sweden have looked in front of goal. Rolling off that market is the tasty Only England to Score market at 16/10, which looks great value too. With that in mind we’re going to make England to keep a clean sheet at 1/1 our best bet.
