Bettingworld.bet site down due to security breach

Betting World, one of the best know online and tote bookmakers in South Africa, have suffered a major security breach on the 14th of April 2021. The security breach caused the Betting World site to go online, leaving customers unable to login or access their Betting World accounts. The error has only affected the bettingworld.bet site, and you can still access the bettingworld.co.za as normal.

The breach follows the recent Supabets downtime drama, where Spuabets customers were also unable to access their account for over a week.

The good news is that Betting World are being open with their clients about the breach or hack, and sent out an email on the 14th April, updating customers on the situation. They are working on bringing their services back online and hopefully they can resolve the issue shortly. The notification email about the hack can be read below

Please note that the Bettingworld.bet site has been closed temporarily after a service provider to the site suffered an external security breach. The breach is being investigated and the site will remain closed until the investigation is completed and all relevant data has been transferred to a secure platform. The site will be re-opened as soon as possible and we will notify accountholders immediately the site is operational.

Bettingworld.bet apologises for the inconvenience and assures all accountholders that everything possible is being done to restore the site to full functionality soonest. Simultaneously, the service provider is instituting additional security measures to safeguard the website and most important, its clients against similar future incidents. In light of the breach, Bettingworld.bet clients are advised not to disclose any significant personal information to any person or entity. And clients who utilise their Bettingworld.bet login details to access other sites should change such details soonest.
