The SA20 league is a highly-anticipated T20 cricket tournament launching on January 10th, 2023, that promises to entertain fans both locally and internationally. With 4 weeks of play, 33 matches, and 6 globally-renowned franchises, the league boasts of an impressive roster of 102 world-class players hailing from both local and international ranks. The league is supported by some of the most well-established T20 franchises in the world, with several franchises from the Indian Premier League expanding their international reach. The six franchises in the league are owned by dynamic organizations who have made a long-term investment of a minimum of 10 years in the development and sustainability of South African cricket and its players.
During the league, the six teams will face each other twice in a round-robin stage, with matches held in both home and away venues. The league will take place in some of South Africa’s most iconic locations: Durban’s Super Giants (Kingsmead), Joburg Super Kings (Wanderers), MI Cape Town (Newlands), Paarl Royals (Boland Park), Pretoria Capitals (SuperSport Park) and Sunrisers Eastern Cape (St George’s Park).
Each team has finalized their 17-member squad following the R125 million player auction and they can field up to four international players in a match, giving a chance for both Proteas star players and young local talent to showcase their skills while playing alongside the best players in the world.
